Designing for Hot Climate Areas
This stems from having lived most of my adolescent life in Bermuda, and going on long visits to the West Indies as a child, on many occasions. Then later, while training in my profession, I was given the opportunity to travel through India, along with my fascination of being able to live a sustainable,
efficient co-existence with one’s environment.
Given a Site; in one of these hemisphere’s my aims would be to provide an innovative design solution that would utilise sustainable and leading edge construction technologies that if possible, would be in keeping with the natural indigenous terrain and enhance the local building qualities by bringing a fresh diversity to the mix. yes visiting the site would be a great advantage but not entirely necessary to create high performance sustainable intervention, but this would only come about with an extensive desktop study of the area, what would be of most importance was to obtain digital panoramic views 360˚ from the Site & around the Site it’s self.
With these first images, they would ignite the inspirational birth our ideas. Using an integrated design approach we would be able to produce the first feasibilities for the Area. To expand on our initial projections for the Area, this would involve the study of the local & district urbanisation areas along with the study of the social infrastructures depending upon the aspirations of the brief; this could only be done by visiting the Site and their surrounding Areas.
